The Sun is Really Hot

So this afternoon I went to the barn, and it was generally overcast. I grabbed Jimmy & Manny & put them inside.... and tacked up. By the time I got outside to ride, the sun was freakin' BLAZING and it was really, really warm outside.

So I'm hacking, thinking nothing of it, and I'm thinking "Man, I am really warm...... sheesh.... Jimmy seems so lazy...." then I feel it....sweat....down....my....back. UGHHHHHH!!! THE NASTIEST FEELING EVER!!! So, needless to say we only worked for 25-30ish min and since JC was a super star last night too, he got let off pretty easy. He worked up really well again today, 3rd day in a row no soundness issues (except when I forget about that big deep hole at the back end of the arena.... yeah whoops) so that is really great! It's only taken him 2 weeks to be nice and strong in that left hind that we were concerned about.

After our excruciatingly warm hack, I untacked & gave him a nice cool bubble bath, in which he allowed me to SPRAY HIS FACE anddddd use the spray shine stuff on him and he didn't flip out or rear at all. What a good little baby. He kind of "Arab-ed out" a little with both of those things... but did NOT rear, which is a tremendous improvement, so for that I am grateful. Heck, maybe someday I can shampoo his blaze. Haha.

Lesson is Saturday. Chel will be taking pix and my mom wants to see how much JC has improved in the two weeks we've been at the new farm. She won't believe it!! He's gaining so much muscle he looks incredible. I can't wait for pix!!
