Some of you may know I've been having soundness problems with my young horse. For the first time since I've known him (4.5 years) he's lame and we couldn't figure out why. Last night we blocked him, flexed him, and radiographed him... and I was amazed at what we found.
He's got bone fragments floating in both of his front fetlocks! One day he will be 100% sound to ride and enjoyable, then suddenly he is dead lame, head bobbing, and very crabby due to clearly being in excruciating pain. Apparently these little tiny chips have been floating around & getting stuck in the wrong places & driving him nuts. POOR DUDE!!!!!!
So I'll be calling Morrie's in Delavan to schedule a surgery for his fetlocks to be flushed & cleared of these little chips.
I'm so relieved to finally have found what the heck is wrong I can't even tell you. When the vet watched him trot he said "Wanna know what I think? I think you'll be spending your horse show money somewhere else this season..." but I don't even mind!!! Jimmy will be healed forever after this surgery and I'm thrilled to know it's something so minor and something that is easily remedied. Now time to save up and make it happen. I'm thrilled :)
