Fun Stuff

Just posted this to IHO:

"I always read everyone's posts about going to Wayne and Barrington and trail riding extravaganza weekends and everything sounds like SO MUCH FUN! I've been a boring old h/j girl forever so my excursions pretty much consisted of hopping from Lamplight to Ledges to Kentucky to Ocala throughout the year - which ROCKED... but now I'm on my own, I can't do all that fun stuff....er...anything...at all.

I cannot WAIT until Jimmy is better and I can start joining along with everyone on these fun outings. Is anyone around McHenry with a trailer that frequently has an extra space and likes to go do fun things?"

I am dying to GET OUT THERE and start DOING THINGS!!!!! 22 more days until Jimmy starts up under saddle again. We're going to start with the basics again and REALLY work on flexion and collection and consistency and fluidity. I want him to be smooth as silk under saddle and we'll go slow as we need to the first few weeks to make that happen – though I KNOW that some long gallops in the field will be necessary for his own sanity, so it will be his reward for toughing it out in his intro-to-flatwork all over again ;-) Oh - and of COURSE all of this depends on his soundness. Excursions and flatwork and jumping won't happen if he doesn't feel well. We will wait for him to tell us what to do next. Based on how he's been in the round pen the last few times I've put him out....he'll be MORE than eager to work 22 days from now!!!

Yay I'm so excited for you! Getting out of the ring is such a blast, and it's amazing what it will do for your IN ring work. Bella's always infinitely better in the ring after a few days doing something outside of it:D I can't wait for Jimmy to get better so I can hear about it!!

Haha me too!!! I usually ride him in a big field across the street, but I just want to go other places. The area has really built up to be eventer-friendly over the last 10 years so there are lots of places I want to go school! AND I GOT A RESPONSE! I'm going to be buddy-ing this fall with an awesome chick from Spring Grove & her retired jumper. SO stoked!!
