Well today we went across the street to ride up and down the hills in "my field". I put a bonnet on him, and he was soooooo less than thrilled. About mid-ride whatever little bugs were living in his ears started to stir and couldn't get out, so the rest of the 10 minutes we were out there he was beside himself slinging his head, shaking it all over, and at one point he even tried to stand up a little and then round it off with a buck. It didn't help his attitude that I asked him to stay in contact the entire ride, with a break to stretch out only once every few minutes.
Here's the day in pictures:
Jimmy and his buddies in their field: Jimmy, Bama, Dani, Smiley, and Chochise.

When I rattle the cookie tin the girls always come up first. Meet Bama and Dani:

Jimmy realizes he
could be missing out on something delicious, so then he plods over:

Unsure, he stops to sniff the air. Is that poo with a hint of cookie? Worth the walk.

Then he realizes yes, there are definitely delicious treats in my hand, and I get a 'HI MOM!!!!'

LESS than thrilled about wearing his white bonnet today (he has them in 4 colors)

Our ride across the street on the way to the beautiful hills:

The view from the trail, almost home. The farm is on the other side of the treeline on the right side across the street.

Jimmy moping that he's still wearing his 'hat' and has bugs in his ears:

Back outside with his buddies, ready to start the walk down the hill...He won't walk back until I turn and walk away, to be sure I don't have any more cookies:

Maybe he needs a full face Cashall fly mask for riding with a long nose? Maisie has one of those - it seems to help with the bugs.
Typically the bugs don't bother him this much, but today they were just BRUTAL. I am going to try stuffing his ears and putting the bonnet on for trail rides I think.
