Last night I had some changes of plans, so I was able to go out to see my Jim!!!!!! I hadn't gone out since Saturday. It looks like with my crazy busy schedule, 4x a week will be the norm (Wed, Thus, Sat, Sun) so I guess I just need to get used to it, but I really miss him after about two days! (Sometimes after 2 hours)
I got there and he was SO excited to see me. He came right into his stall and waited for me at the door to take him out. A GOOD SIGN! Then I put his halter on him & he just stood there. I kept saying "C'mon baby. C'mon Jim. Let's go babe." And he planted his feet. Of course I was upset, thinking he didn't feel good, so I slowly coaxed him out and got him on his walk.
Somewhere along the way of this recovery, Jimmy has gotten snotty. It really bugs me, because he was always the most polite horse I've ever known. He will go on walks and just randomly stop and paw. Uhm, excuse me?! Who are you. What did you do with MY polite horse??? So that needs to be addressed. Dually Noted.
We walked up and down the driveway (Jimmy: stopping and pawing at random. Me: clucking and forcing him to move.) and by the time we got to the bottom I had enough of the attitude. He was really proud of himself though, I could tell, so I wanted to play a little. See? Proud.
Then I had to let him be a little social, because Gus and Chewy came over to the fence, so I wanted to give him a little social interaction. He doesn't get to as much as touch another horse where he is now, so I think a little physical interaction is good for him.
I brought Jimmy into the round pen and let him trot around me on the lead rope to see how he felt. I was so impressed, I let him OFF the lead rope, which may or may not have been a good idea, but we will see how he feels when I go out there tonight :-) This video brings me to tears, I've watched it probably 15 times already, if not more. I'm so proud and so excited to see how proud of himself he is, and how good he feels. He hasn't been this excited about anything in months, many, many months. I'm so happy. I'm so proud. I'm so grateful.
