Jimmy was a champ today. We did some ground work and then worked on loading a little. Well... it's not so much "loading" practice as it is "walk up to the trailer without shitting yourself, please" practice. Haha. We got to the point where he'd let me life one foot up on the trailer. That's all. Ugh. How frustrating.
I want to go to Heide's in a few weekends to school him over real jumps at a real height.... but if he won't f*cking load then that just isn't gunna happen! So, we must improve. May 17 there's a show @ Fields & Fences I'd definitely like to go to. If we don't have the scope to do the jumpers (3'-3'3") yet, then we will do the open hunters (2'9-3') I think he will be able to handle the jumpers fine, since I KNOW they won't be wide at all... and they will most likely be the hunter jumps with a colored rail or two. Big whoop. Greg is the judge, so I'm going to do the mini medal (2'6") to warm Jimmy up and if he's perfect with that course, we'll do the jumpers. If he's a little shaky, we will scratch the jumpers and do the open hunters. Isn't it great to have a plan?
Today I hacked him outside, and he was great. We visited Steve out fishing & talked about dressage vs. jumpers and how much he'll charge me for trailering :D It's not that I don't want to do dressage because it's "hard".... it's just that I have realized, if Jimmy's not broke, why fix him? He has a perfect attitude to do h/j.... I LOVE h/j... I've found cheap h/j horse shows... Why wouldn't I do h/j??? OH yeah, I can't answer that. My hope is to eventually (2 years? Maybe 3...) have Jimmy (and my checkbook) ready for the C/A Jumpers on the A's again. Those were the best days of my life and everyday I miss showing in that division. The jumps are a perfect height that they're fun, but not intimidating, the courses are challenging, and the locations are beautiful. Yes, it's a lot of money... but if I train him and prepare him right, he could be the next Visconde, easy. That's my dream. Now I'm going to live it. Gotta start somewhere!!
xoxo, Jess

Hey! I'll be at that Fields show too!
REALLY?!?!? That's awesome!!!!! Are you bringing Gravano?
I'm not sure yet. Since it's my first show ever, I might just use a school horse so that I can figure out how it all works myself first. But we'll see. :)
Awwe. FUN!!! Well if you have any questions... find me :) I'm a horse show veteran :P
