I think Jimmy's ankles are bothering him a little bit. When I pick his front feet he really doesn't like to stand on one very much longer than the other. He gets fussy after I fiddle in his foot too long (some days they're 'poopier' than others). So although he's "technically" due to have his feet done, (8 weeks now), the farrier isn't scheduled to come out yet, and I'm alright letting him go a little longer. If he's that uncomfortable with me just picking his feet, I don't want to put him through having his feet trimmed and having to stand on either leg too long. I'll ask John about it when I see him, for sure.
Also, yesterday was Jimmy's first day being without wraps for longer than 6 hours and he just had tiny pockets of heat/swelling around the incision sites. I gave him a gram of bute because that + the impatience when I picked his feet made me think he could really use it. He is so good too, he sees the tube of bute coming now and just stands still, let's me squirt him with it, then he licks and swallows. HE'S SUCH A DREAM HORSE!!!!
Today he goes 2 more hours without wraps. AND he get's an Adequan shot. Bill is going to text me to remember....ADEQUAN TONIGHT!!! DO NOT FORGET!!!
And speaking of Bill here's a picture of him and Jimmy last night!! Sorry it's a little blown out - the sun shines through the barn really beautifully at night, but it makes for blown out photos!!
Enjoy this beautiful Memorial Day weekend everyone!!!!
