Recently my dear friend & fellow blogger Anna posted an incredible video of a man and his horse doing dressage. To me, watching it for the first time, it was just a man and his horse....Upon further investigation and research I learned the said "Man" was Edward Gal and the "Horse" was Moorlands Totilas Kur...aka the best dressage combination in the world.
This got me thinking about dressage. As a child, I thought, "How stupid. They don't even jump." As a teen I thought, "Okay, so it makes my horse jump better. I'll do it a little." And now, as an adult I'm beginning to think, "That is fascinating. I want to know more." A thread on COTH has me thinking more about the size of my horse and his ability to do dressage. Just because Jimmy is smaller (approximately 15.1hh but I really need to measure him now that he's done growing..), certainly does not mean he's any less capable than a full-bodied 17hh Warmblood in the dressage ring.
I'm not saying that I'm looking to horse show and win ribbons and be judged or anything along those lines, but I am saying I'm interested in dressage. I'm interested in learning more. I want to teach my horse how to use himself as fully and completely as he possibly can. I want to do more and get better and grow.
I want to know dressage.
Any clinics coming up?
